The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Peanut won the Corteva Agriscience Award for Research at the 55th annual meeting of the American Peanut Research and Education Society meeting held in Savannah, Georgia, July 11-13. Peanut Lab wins award 07/17/23 Allison Floyd
The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Peanut has won the Corteva Agriscience Award for Excellence in Research, an honor that recognizes an individual or team for career performance or for outstanding research of significant benefit to the peanut industry. The award is given each year at the American Peanut Research and Education Society meeting, which was held this past week in Savannah.

To address the issue, University of Georgia Cooperative Extension and Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension agents are offering a free, virtual workshop on Aug. 1.

Among the young alumni addressing the world’s most critical issues, leading businesses and serving their communities are three honorees from CAES: a community advocate, a veterinarian and an obstetrician providing women’s health care in rural Georgia.

Every spring semester, you will find University of Georgia students enrolled in “Culture-Centered Communication and Engagement” lending a hand at the Sparrow’s Nest, a local organization providing food and other services to those in need. As they serve, the students in the course develop their professional communication skills as they relate to community engagement.

Irrigation systems can help get water to plants when it is needed, but always follow best practices. Avoid wetting plant foliage for prolonged periods of time to reduce risk of plant disease. The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has been selected as one of five university partners participating in a multi-year effort focused on identifying and addressing consumer questions involving the pork industry, announced the National Pork Board. The establishment of the Real Pork Trust Consortium will bring together the diverse expertise of five universities and will focus on three key areas to build consumer trust.

An international research team led by University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences faculty has published a pioneering study on the finger millet genome offering new insights for breeders and hope for millions in the drylands. The study opens exciting possibilities for developing new finger millet varieties through targeted breeding techniques to enhance nutritional value, yield and resilience to various challenges.
