Plant Pathologists Recognized
Two University of Georgia plant pathologists in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences received the Friends of Southern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) awards at the Georgia Association of Plant Pathologists annual meeting in Savannah, Georgia on March 13.
University of Georgia Professors Scott Jackson, Dean Pringle and Manpreet Singh, recently graduated from LEAD21, a leadership-development program designed for land-grant university professionals. LEAD21 Graduates
Three University of Georgia professors were among the 79 individuals who completed the 14th class of the LEAD21 leadership-development program. Scott Jackson, Dean Pringle and Manpreet Singh, all faculty in the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, represented UGA in the program, which is designed for land-grant institutions and their strategic partners from across the nation.

CAREER Grants
Two University of Georgia researchers have been awarded Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Brian Kvitko and Gaelen Burke, both faculty members in the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, were awarded the five-year grants this year.
Greg Huber, the training coordinator for the University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture, received GGIA’s Communicator of the Year Award. The award honors the individual who best served the horticulture industry in Georgia through the media and other forms of promotion. He is shown with the center's personal UGA mascot, Agga. Huber designed the mascot which wears a green sweater and is adorned with plant life typically found in urban landscapes. Huber also designed the UGA Griffin Campus’ original Uga mascot which is located on the campus quad where it welcomes visitors to the campus. CAES News
Industry Honors
Three University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) experts received awards from the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) during the association’s WINTERgreen Tradeshow and Conference in Duluth last month.
UGA's Tim Coolong was recognized at the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Coolong received the Donnie H. Morris Award of Excellence in Extension. CAES News

Bobby Smith’s first job was on his family’s dairy farm in Boaz, Alabama. He felt right at home when University of Georgia Cooperative Extension hired him to work with farmers in Morgan County, one of the state’s most productive dairy regions, 18 years ago.
